Winter Skincare Favourites

As much as I love cold frosty mornings, I find that winter plays havoc with my skin. The cold air combined with the central heating just leaves it feeling dry and looking dull. If you find that you have similar problems in winter then my winter skincare products will be perfect for you!

Garnier Micellar water, Nip and Fab Glycolic Acid, Nip and Fab Dragonsblood Serum, Nivea Moisturiser and Avene Eye Cream bottles sitting in a row

Garnier Micellar Water

I always use a micellar water to remove my make-up and to cleanse my face. I find that that the Gariner version is great for removing make-up however it does take a couple of goes to completely remove waterproof mascara. If you wear a lot of eye make-up or waterproof mascara then I would recommend Lancôme Bi-Facial Make-up Remover as it’s incredibly gentle and removes even stubborn mascara and eyeliner easily.

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Liquid Glow

I was looking for a new Glycolic Acid product and decided to give the Nip + Fab version a try as it was on offer at the time. It was also my first time trying out the brand so was looking forward to seeing what their products were like. In the past I’ve found that some acid based products are too strong and cause my skin to breakout but this one is perfect. The formula has 2% glycolic acid to gently exfoliate and brighten skin. As the acid level is relatively low it’s suitable for everyday use. It also contains hyaluronic acid to help hydrate skin – which is definitely a must at this time of year. If you’re using any acid based products it’s important to remember to use SPF as acids can make your skin more easily.

Nip + Fab Dragon’s Blood Fix Plumping Serum

After my success with Nip + Fab’s Liquid Glow I thought I’d try out one of their serums. No dragons were harmed in the making of this serum – if like me you have know idea what dragon’s blood is – it is a bright red resin formed from a number of different plants. The dragons blood along with hyaluronic acid help this serum to deliver an intense moisture boost leaving your skin feeling soft and hydrated from the first use. As someone who doesn’t have a huge amount of time in the morning, I’m pleased to say that this lightweight serum is easily and quickly absorbed into skin – meaning there’s no waiting about for it to sink in – perfect if you’re short on time.

Nivea Daily Essentials Light Moiturising Day Cream

Although my skin tends to be really dry in winter I have to be careful not to overload it with too many rich products as it also has a tendency to become oily if I use too many thick creamy products. This moisturiser is light and quickly absorbed making it perfect for my skin. It contains Vitamin E to help moisturise skin. It also contains SPF 15 too which is great.

Avène Soothing Eye Contour Cream

Before this eye cream I usually didn’t bother applying any – but this has definitely changed my opinion on eye creams and my skincare routine just isn’t complete without it. It’s lightweight, quickly absorbed into skin and really moisturising. I had started to notice a couple of light lines just under my eyes but I’ve found since using this they’ve faded. This doesn’t have anti-ageing ingredients but Avène do have a range called PhysioLift which help reduce the look of wrinkles.
